Session Dates and Times

56 weekly sessions at TAFE SA Mount Barker Campus on Thursdays from 09:00 until 3:00pm.

Training Cost

$1,478.40 GST included
Course fee covers both Year 1 and Year 2. This cost does not include consumables.
Students will undertake the VET Readiness Orientation (VETRO) process in Semester 2, 2026 via a referral process completed at their Home School using an online from. Once the Home School has completed the referral process, students will be required
to undertake a Snapshot Reading and Numeracy Assessment to demonstrate sufficient literacy and numeracy ability.
This training cost is the gap fee payable after subsidised government funding from the Department for Innovation and Skills (VFSS).
For DfE families who qualify for School Card, there may be no cost for this course.

This course is delivered by an approved registered training provider and as such, students may be eligible to be funded for the training cost of this course under a subsidised training contract (VFSS). Please refer to your school’s VET Coordinator for more information. This does not include consumables.

Entry Requirements

Students must meet VET for Secondary Schools Eligibility Criteria. Prior to placement allocation students must provide evidence of full immunisation status including, but not limited to COVID-19 and flu vaccinations as per the Immunisation for Health Care Workers in South Australia Policy Directive.
Students will undertake the VET Readiness Orientation (VETRO) process in Semester 2, 2025 via a referral process completed at their Home School using an online form. Work Placement

120 hours = Vocational placement will be undertaken in appropriate settings based on providers requirements and capacity.
Work placement for students will be arranged by the TAFE SA Placements team, and will occur in Semester One, 2028 (subject to change).

70 SACE credits, SACE Stage 2,
SACE Stage 2 achievable over the 3 semesters.

Selection Process

An interview will be required for all new students applying into this course. The interview will be conducted at St Francis de Sales College, TAFE SA Mount Barker Campus. Applicants will be contacted to confirm time and date.

Orientation Details

First 2 weeks of term will involve a LEARN/Blackboard collaborate orientation for all new students.
