Training Cost

This training cost is $3,450 being the gap fee payable after subsidised government funding from the Department for Innovation and Skills- subject to eligibility criteria (VFSS). This fee is invoiced in instalments of $1,150.00 charged in February 2027, July 2027 and February 2028.

This course is delivered by an approved registered training provider and as such, students may be eligible to be funded for the training cost of this course under a subsidised training contract (VFSS).
Please refer to your school’s VET Coordinator for more information. This does not include consumables.
Non-member schools – an additional admin levy of $150 per student.

Additional Information

Students must arrange their own animal care work placement in conjunction with their school. Work boots required for field trips and access to a laptop computer to be used for workshops and for online assessment submission.

Work Placement

120 hours work placement in an animal care related industry (For Example vets, dog wash, animal shelters, livestock production, equine facility, wildlife rescue etc.)

SACE Details

Maximum of 120 Stage 2 credits upon satisfactory completion of the whole certificate. Can be used to attract an ATAR.

Selection Process

Students will need to undertake the following as part of the selection process for this course:
1. Attend a course information session with parent/caregiver
2. Submit with the VETRO online form, details of their experience with animals and outline their goals/pathways that this course will support them to achieve
3. Undertake an Upfront Assessment of Needs (UAN) including completing a Snapshot Reading and Numeracy Assessment
4. Attend an interview with RST to discuss their goals and work placement plans

Orientation Details

Students will be required to complete an Orientation Day in early 2027. Date to be confirmed.
