Pathways On completion of this course, students will have an entry point for those wishing to work in an engineering related workplace. The skills you learn will put you on the right path to become a Fabricator, Mechanical Engineer, Fitter and Turner or a Boilermaker.

Training Cost

$636 GST exempt
This is the training cost is the ‘gap’ fee for eligible students for the Certificate II in Engineering Pathways.
This course costs is a Flexible Industry Pathway subsidised by Skills SA.
Students home school to be invoiced by the school

Entry Requirements

Genuine interest in the Construction Industry and sound literacy and numeracy skills. Pre-course requirement for VGSS funded students is White-Card completion prior to course commencement – CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry (approx. $135 per person).

Additional Information

Steel capped boots, 100% cotton long sleeve high vis shirt (supplied by PEER) and long pants are compulsory and must be worn on the VET Day. No polyester blends.
Regular attendance in class and ability to complete work on time is essential. Students must be prepared to complete work self-paced activities and engineering projects.
Students are encouraged to show initiative, problem solve and manage their time to complete the course requirements.
Basic stationery every lesson (Laptop, Pens, Pencil, Ruler, Scientific Calculator etc.)

Work Placement

It is not compulsory however students are encouraged to complete Workplace Learning during their course in 2027. Students can complete these hours during school holidays.

Selection Process

Students must be: 1. an Australian Citizen, permanent Australian resident or Eligible visa holder. 2. Enrolled in Year 11, 12 or 13 and are at least 16 years of age or turning 16 years of age in the year of study and are undertaking SACE. Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment by RTO and pretraining interview to be conducted by school prior to being accepted into the course. (VETRO Process)

Orientation Details

Orientation is undertaken on the first day in Week 2 of Term 1, February 2027. Students to meet at Birdwood High School.
